Daily Devotion – December 23

Day 357 – December 23

God with us

“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
2 Corinthians 6:16b

Do you remember back to when you decided to live where you live? For some of you, it’s because of your job, For others, it’s because you’ve always lived where you live and would never want to live anywhere else. But all of us in reality chose to either stay or go somewhere to end up living where we live. Some of us may not like our current living arrangements and we may only think of our current living conditions as a stop along the way to get to our dream home, but none of us made a decision to downsize like our Lord did.

Even if you’re homeless, you haven’t suffered through a downsizing like the Lord put on Jesus when He came to earth. No matter how beautifully we picture heaven, it’s impossible for our human minds to fathom how incredible heaven truly is. Imagine being the Lord of heaven and coming to this fallen earth as your temporary home. No place on this planet is as good as heaven’s dumpster. (Honestly there isn’t any need for a dumpster in heaven, but for argument’s sake, go with it.) God chose to make His place even after we sinned among His people, so He came to us when we couldn’t get to Him. That and only that is the reason we can live with Him forever, because He chose to love and die for us before we loved Him. Never forget our God is with us, He loves us, and He will never leave us.

We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
