Daily Devotion – December 30

Day 364 – December 30

God with us

“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,’ even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”
Psalm 139:11-12

Spiritual darkness doesn’t imply that the sun has gone down or hasn’t come back up yet. It implies that a people have resisted the presence of God and sin or evil is reigning. Our enemy, the Devil, who was an angel of light, now promotes darkness as light to confuse what we want for what God has for us. His desire is to cause us to get comfortable with the “lights off.” Think about it this way. When it’s dark outside, it’s very easy to hide the things we do, say, or think from the outside world and hide who we truly are. Christ not only wants to expose them to light, but he also wants to redeem all the darkness and change our hearts into His marvelous light. When we run to Jesus, seeking Him first with our hearts, the darkness that tries to cover us cannot overcome us. He is the light in the darkest places of our souls that illuminates the bare and empty places we hope to be healed from. As we step into a new year, ask the Lord to reveal to you the places you’ve covered so He can expose them to free you from the pain of your past. God’s love for you will change you from the inside out, and His light will pierce even the darkest of places in our souls. He is with us!

We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
