Daily Devotion – December 4

Day 338 – December 4

God with us

“If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”
John 12:26

Whenever we set out to serve God with our lives, we must remember we don’t go alone! God is with us because He is ever present when we go. The word “Christ” means anointed or set apart and “mas” means sent or go. So when we go or set out as one who is sent by God, we go with Him because He is in us. When Jesus came, Immanuel – God with us, showed up and even when he ascended into heaven His Spirit remained here for us.

So whenever you set out today, don’t think of it as going to work for God when He is off on some island somewhere sipping a drink with an umbrella in it, hoping you might actually do something for Him. He is rooting for you more than you can imagine, and He’s always willing and ready to fill you and empower you to change your world. He is here and He is ever present in our lives. We must be aware of His presence to be on the mission He has called us to be on. Here’s the truth: we can do good things but be on our own mission and miss the Lord Jesus in the process. We must lock in with His purpose for our lives. When we do, we will be honored by our heavenly father and He will guide us when we go. Let’s do this!

We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
