Day 282 – October 10
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Is this not a powerful statement Paul wrote to finish his thoughts in Chapter 3? Notice Paul didn’t say, “Now since I wrote all this you should celebrate all that I’ve done and remember that if I had not written this, y’all probably wouldn’t know any of it.” Would that have been true? Probably! But that wasn’t Paul’s purpose, nor was it what He was trying to teach them from his own experience. He was expressing what is true for all of us, that it’s Christ who is able to do far more than our minds can imagine and it happens through His work within us! He is the one who receives the glory when we allow Him total control through a surrendered life. He is willing and able to do more than we can even dream about in our wildest dreams. The Message version says, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”
Don’t you love that last part? He leads us not as a bully who would push or pull us, but through His gentle voice guiding us to be what He’s made us to become. That is the right way to lead as His Spirit leads us so we can lead the people God has placed in our lives to lead. Walk in His way!
We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
